Belligerent Before Dark

Biting your bloody lip,
You tell me all your secrets
What he’s done these past few days
Time at rug-burn paces,
You topple off of your ceiling fan
Falling gracefully into
A shatter fantasy world of
Sharp bits and ends,
And I can’t say what you’re luck is
In dodging tragedy

Pencil shavings at the feet of
Tonight’s heart race suicide
Living on your cement porch, the
Waterfall down brick stairs
Brushes away with the fate winds
Rushing across this town
It’s swiped cries from lips
Of dying girls, their bodies
Licked up with the gust
Just a song, a lullaby
For the listless and adrift

Tired, old men whisper prayers
For us trembling Mademoiselles
But whether in finery or up backstage
We’re fallen, hopeless
And need an intervention on this
Weary blanket sky of frostbite
And pounding silver hands
We need something more than a lie tonight
Dying on the edge of
Our bloody, broken tongue

The next time he hits me
You’ll bleed to death inside
Goodnight, dear angel friend,
And stay alive

I love your use of noun compounds. 'Heart rate suicide' was a personal favourite. I also like the way you ended it. No better end than a goodnight.

As always, great work.

Wow.

No. Let me reiderate.

WOW. That was amazing. Either publish a book of poetry of I'll give you a whack upside the head.

That was so good. Kudos in spades. :lots_hearts:
